Founded in 1913 by the Science Teachers’ Bureau, the Boston Children’s Museum is the second oldest children’s museum in the world and one of the few that maintain a collection. MASS MoCA occupies a complex of 19th-century mill buildings on a 16-acre site in downtown North Adams, MA. Opened to the public in 1999, the museum exhibits art by both well-known and emerging artists, focusing on large-scale, immersive installations that would be impossible to realize in conventional museums. Exhibitions take place in both inside galleries and on the grounds. Among others, permanent exhibits include important works by Sol LeWitt, Joseph Beuys, and Anselm Kiefer. A museum shop and a number of eating and drinking opportunities are on the premises.

The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins.
